Default Quick Advice Please, D16Z6 stock vs. D15B swapped in by shop

(Typo in title, I know!)

I bought a '95 Civic EX w/ a bad D16Z6. I took the car to get the motor replaced and, after more time and money than originally quoted, I got my car back. It's stalling at times and making noise, so I checked under the hood and found that they'd stuck a D15B in there! I was invoiced for a 1.6L VTEC.

Here are the specs on both:
D16Z6
Disp., 1590
HP, 125@6600
TQ, 106@5200
Comp., 9.2:1
Bore, 75
Stroke, 90
sohc VTEC, yes
OBD, 1
1992-1995 Civic EX/Si/Del Sol Si

D15B
Disp.,1493
HP, 130@6800
TQ, 14.1kg/m@5200
Comp., 9.6:1
Bore, 75
Stroke, 84.5
sohc, VTEC yes
OBD, N/A
1991-1999 Civic VTi (EG4)

It runs poorly and I think I want the D16Z6 in there, but wanted to ask for some opinion and advice before I go in there and ask them to make it right. The shop came recommended, but I don't like the way they've handled any aspect of this work.
Thanks.

Both engines are very similar. As far as real world performance goes if you didn't know which engine was under the hood its unlikely you'd be able to tell the difference. That being said, it should run right and they should have told you they were putting a D15B vtec in. At this point i'd just tell them to fix the problem, i wouldn't get them to swap in a D16Z6, as i said ealier theres almost no difference performance wise and that D15B will in all likelyhood be much lower mileage than just about any D16Z6 you might find.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going that route.

The shop is sketchy about doing work, so I'm going to go with something like, "I was initially angry when I saw that D15 in there and intended to have you replace it or take serious action. We can keep it in there, but we darn well better get it running right."

Thanks again.

No Problem. Just thought i'd add, when the shop swapped the engine they should have reused your original ECU, intake manifold and O2 sensor. D15B Vtecs are pretty much drop in replacements for D16Z6s, for a shop it should not be a hard or time consuming swap.
