Default Question about tranny (driveshaft) seal on a car with a swap...

I have a JDM b16a swap with a hydro Y21 tranny in an EG hatch. Im using teg driveshafts, and the pass side seal is leaking. The shaft is 6 months old. What would generally cause this? Also what driveshaft seal should be used with that tranny, GSR?

Also, when doing a clutch replacement on this car, what bearings do I need to change.... are they the 'throwout bearing" and "release bearing"? Are they the same for all B series tranny's?

Thanks guys!!!

Please reply asap.

use the tranny seal according to what axle u use.

the pilot bearing on the flywheel is the same for all b-series. there is two throwout bearings available the hydro and cable. u would need a 94-up integra

old tranny seals get hard, and typically will fail after removing the axle. The same thing happened to my tranny, and more recently, in my cousin's tranny.

A new seal fixed the problem. Also, you want the 90-93 integra seal, although they're pretty much the same seal for all B series trannies.

hypa:

My tranny is a hydro B series and my axles are 94+ teg axles.
Why would a seal from a 90-93 teg work instead of the 94+ seals?

My seal has been failing 4 times in the past year. 3 of the 4 was due to the wrong seal, so why would the last one fail?

Im very confused.

Thanks for the replies, plz keep them coming.

94 integra axles on an EG hybrid?

I always used 90-93 (DA Teg) axles on my EG swaps, since they are the same as the axles used in the jdm eg SiR2. FYI, I did close to a dozen EG swaps, and used the DA axles exclusively with no issues.

Maybe that's your problem right there?

93 axles are for the cable tranny setup.

On hydro trannys, everyone that I know of uses 94+ Teg axles.
