Default Question about hondamotorsonline.com

I know it says COMPLETE CHANGEOVER at the website, but I just want to double check. If I order the b16a complete changeover, all I have to do when it gets to my house is go get it installed? I don't want to have to go searching for little extras...

How much is too much to pay for install on a b16a swap into an EK coupe with automatic transmission?

Thanks in advance!

Well, it SHOULD come complete with everything. The only thing to watch out for is broken sensors from the shipping. The usual suspects are the TPS, oilpan, and other small sensors that might get dinged up. But it shouldn't be a problem, just go to your local junkyard and search for them. The Classifieds here have tons of spare parts.

As for the swap, you can do it yourself if you're confident in your mechanical skills. But seeing as you have an auto, and swapping to a 5-speed, you have a long journey ahead of you, young one. If you want to take it to a shop, I wouldn't pay more than $800 for the engine installation labor. But then again, the 5-speed conversion might be another task in itself. You'll need to get the shift linkages, hydralic lines, clutch pedal assembly, clutch master/slave cylinders.

Ok, now let's say I went to a shop and they had a b16a w/tranny for 1500 bucks. How much would I expect to pay TOTAL after getting the extra parts (clutch, slave/master cyl's, etc.) and install?

< 2500?

is it first or second gen
dont let a shop screw you with a first gen motor
there peices of sh*t.
you shouldnt pay more than 700$ for an install provided you have everything
and steve (hondamotorsonline) rules, i had incorrect parts shipped to me and he fixed everything. oh, and it is the FULL swap. everything you need.
edit: i would do the swap yourself. its not brain surgery.

So the swaps from hondamotorsonline.com come with EVERYTHING i need even though I have an automatic transmission right now?

What all would I need to put it in myself?

How long would this take?

How big of a chance is there that I would **** something up?

I'd love to do it myself...I'm all about saving 700 bucks.

well i dont know if steve sells auto trannys so thats another story, to put it in yourself you need
http://www.helminc.com and an engine lift (not necessary, but makes life easier)
helms is a 65$ service manual. best money ever spent
depending on your knowledge and if you have friends help, it could take anywhere from 1 day to 1 month. i did mine in 3 days with help from a friend (lots of breaks and a couple bumps in the road...)

I think you misunderstood me. I have an auto tranny NOW, but I want a manual.

I've been told that I'll need extra parts because I currently have an auto.

You say that the 1st gen are crap? They are 88-91, right? and the second gen is 92-00? Why are the 1st gen so crappy if they have the same hp and torque as the 2nd gen? At least hondamotorsonline gives the same specs for both...

ohh
your gonna need some **** then, ive never done it so im not gonna give you the wrong info, but theres a good list for it.
the reason the first gens arent as good as the second gens are this. the cams are not as agressive and the motor is 10+ years old.
its just not worth it. besides your gonna spend a GRIP of cash to get it to work in your OBDII car.
