Default question about changing IM to pass smog

I have a 94 JDM h22in my 98 CL and need to smog it soon. I've been told that if i can get my hands on a 98 Intake Manifold and switch it, then i'll be fine. Anyone know if this is true. I went to a smog shop and they said it would be fine if i had either the stock manifold or any 98+ one.

BTW- i have OBD1 conversion harness with a p13, does it have to be obd2 like before to pass also??. Damn i hope i can get out of smog without paying somone a few bengies!

any help much appreciated!
