Default Question on 99 GSR Swap in 96 CX

This is my first swap and first Honda

Its a 1996 civic CX

Motor 1999 GSR

Engine Harness is 96-98EX 5spd

ECU 96-98 EX so I can pass emissions, from what I was told I needed this.

I am confused on what wires need to be added and what needs to be switched in the Pin-outs.

Can anyone shed some light on this topic for me..
Thanks

GSR engine, GSR ecu.

Or hunt down a p28( there is a few others you can use) and have it chipped and tuned. Not sure if this will cause you to fail emissions though.

Chipped P28 won't work, because they won't be able to plug in and read the diag port. You need the OBD2 GSR ECU.

^be careful on the gsr ecu's, I believe the 2000 and 2001 ecu's have immobilizers

Immobilizers are fairly simple to remove.

Why couldn't he just use the 96-98 ecu for the GSR? Sounds like the same emissions testing here in NC which only requires connection to the ecu and all readiness monitors ready no matter what engine year of the engine.

That was the issue i was having, I bought the engine with the 99 GSR ECU but it wouldn't plug into the 99-00 si engine harness I had and it also wouldn't give spark at all. So I bought a 0bd2a- obd2b conversion harness, and a 99-00 si ECU which worked and the car fired right up but the fuel pump wouldn't turn off after priming and when i would plug the scanner in it wouldn't read at all. So Now I bought the 96-98 EX engine harness 5spd and the matching ECU, but my issue is I have not a clue on what wires i need to run and which pins need to be changed, and Im pretty sure my car is stuck in limp mode right now cause it wont rev pass 3k
