You can buy them from a Honda/Acura dealer. I think they cost around $5500. Not including trans, any manifolds...just the longblock.

List on a shortblock is $2700. But they are on backorder forever. Honda stopped making them.

why in the world would you want to buy a new ITR shorblock for?? Just take a gsr block, rebuild it and its as good as new.. unless you are one of those peeps that think ITR must mean... badass. or something.

Everything inside the itr shortblock is different. Its more than the just the pistons, guy.

it would be nice to start from brand new and break it in yourself, and knowing the whole history of the engine. best to do the right thing the first time around.

the money he spends on a brand new ITR block, he can spend on a fully built gsr block resleeved with bigger pistons and rods... and balanced crank and everything and make a lot more power.
Once you resleevei t, or you take it to a machine shop to bore it out.. it doesnt really matter the history of the motor.. if the machine shop says everything is good.. its a brand new motor.
just curious thoguh.. how much is a brand new longblock?? Im guessing over $5000.
yea.. everything in a ITR shortblock is different, different from a stock gsr, but not even close to the potential of a built gsr block.

Mingchi96 is right....For that money....why buy a new ITR block? I'd personally get a GSR block and resleeve. Only the Type R HEAD really worth anything. I'd just get a GSR and resleeve to 84mm Its WAAAY more power then a TYPE R. Why do so many people that think type R is the shitz??? Rebuilding an old block makes it practically new anyway!

Believe it or not, but there is more out there than just drag racing. I am looking at it at a road race point of view. The itr crank comes counter balanced to rev higher, the rods are lighter to make up for the counter balancing of the crank, oil cooler, pistons. So for a couple hundred more, I would rather spend it on something that is going to handle high rpm abuse, not just 15 second bursts down a 1/4 mile. But thats me. If it were all about drag racing, I would just get a b20 block.

That's why you build a GSR for your indivdual purpose, for more power and cheaper...

It cost to much to buy a new motor from Acura. When I was looking to do a brand new motor and I priced it out there are too many things that you need to get in order to make it work. They don't sell complete motors. They sell them in pieces. That means no sensors, no cams, no pistons, valves, valve springs, retainers, no rods, no oil pan, no nothing. I think it would have cost me about 7000 dollars (and i have a deep hook up @ acura). Just get yourself a slightly used ITR motor (It'd be cheaper to get one from Japan).

Good Luck
