power steering with h22a in a civic coupe (searched)
Well, there was a guy who told me that it is very easy to regain power streering if you use the power streering from another car, but the guy is long gone now so it is very hard to confirm with him now, and i was wondering if any of you guys actually managed it, and if you did, then how?

What year civic? Yes it's possible. If you have a 93-95 Coupe then you will need to do a little fabrication to make the power steering pump fit. Talk to Jeff652 on that issue, though.
As for 96-00, it's a lot easier, as there is more room in the engine bay. Talk to junglerunna02 on that issue.
HTH.

I used the ps pump that came with my motor 94. But I heard its easier with the 96 and up pumps. I had to do a bunch of work to make it work, if you want me to explain how I will so just let me know.

EG Civic - use the 97+ Prelude power steering pump & bracket, and get the line refitted/welded/whatever, to the Civic PS line and you're all set. The 92-96 Prelude PS crap is too big and will give you clearance problems with the hood. Besides Jeff (as posted above), I know of 3 other people who have done the same and it works just fine. You can do the same for the EK Civic as well.

Well I used the 94 pump which is the same year as my motor. I bolted it up to the motor. But where the inlet hose hooks up to the pump, was facing down. So I took of the inlet valve if that is what its called, saw that it could be flipped in the opposite direction so it would work for my application. The valve was able to bolt right into the top hole, but the second hole the bottom one, needed to be drilled out and tapped with a tap and dye for there to be threads.
On this pic below you can see that the power steering is a very close fit, but I have been driving the car now everyday for about a week and half and I havent had any rubbing issues.

Re: (EK22Tim)
Just to recap....
EG H22 Civics - Need to use the 97+ Prelude PS pump & bracket.
EK H22 Civics - Can use the 92-96 Prelude PS pump & bracket.
On the EK Civics, there's a good couple of inches or so more clearance from the motor/slave cylinder/alternator pulley, to the radiator core support than there is on the EG - like the EK engine bay is a little bit longer. Since you have more room up front, you can put the 92-96 PS stuff in there and still clear the radiator core support and hood. If you try to put it into the EG Civic, you'll have to trim the core support and it'll then be hitting the hood, so you have to use the 97 Prelude PS pump & bracket since it's smaller and fits in there better. Eitherway, you'll have to have your Civic lines refitted/welded to the Prelude PS pump lines to make it work.

Not only will you need the line from the rack to the pump refitted but also the return line(the line going from the pump to the reservoir) you will have issues with. I posted up pictures of what I needed to do in another thread.
Never mind this is the same thread I posted the pics in.
