Default Power steering for b18c1 swap in eg????

i tryed using stock eg lines with gsr pump but it seems like the eg line is too small and the bolts don't line up.

its not a direct bolt in thought
did you have to bend the lines?

nope dont bend the lines the hoses are verry close to identical they just differ alittle, on the curves it has close to the rack just run it and hook it up to the rack and youll be str8

Yeah, same question kinda... I'm swapping B18C5 into an EG, trying to figure out why the B18's power steering bracket won't work with the D16 I previously had in the car... Do I need to order the brackert from my D16 and use that? from pictures it doesn't look like it will line up.....

huh, i didn't have any trouble when we did my friend's swap. we just used the b18c bracket and pump, then bolted the stock eg line up to the pump. The line ended up being a little tighter than it was before, but it works perfectly....all the bolts lined up and everything.

on the civic hose, the metal "socket" going into the pump is smaller. also the hose is physically shorter. the gsr hose is the only one that can bolt to the pump

also the angles going into hte rack are off by about 45 deg.

also the nature of the bends on the gsr line make it impossible to bolt to the rack without serious bending. it won't clear the rack return lines going to the resvour.

the gsr hose is the only one that will bolt to the gsr pump? how can that be....considering I personally bolted the stock EG hose up to the stock b18c pump?

i'm looking at the two hoses right now
and there is no way the civic hose can fit the pump.

the opening on the gsr pump is bigger then civic hose.

what year is your b18?

well there were a couple of things i tried

first i tryed rebending the line to bolt to the civic rack. you need a pipe bender for it or else you'll crimp the line. but if you notice the two lines side by side the gsr has a funky angle that hits the return line on the eg rack

next i tried to cut the flare nut off, straighten the line and reflare it. that didn't work since the line was so ******* hard.

next thing to do is go to a machine shop and get them to make a colar with a slot in it for an o-ring to go over the civic hose going into the gsr pump. effectively making the civic line fit hte bigger pump.

i basically said **** it and run with out power steering

here is the deal...

when we first swapped my roommates b18c1 into his civic coupe before it was totaled and pulled the motor back out he had p/s without buying any extra parts i think.. he had the same setup as me, 94 civic ex,96 motor, i have a 95 civic ex, 98 motor.. would they have changed the p/s lines in that time??? i want to get p/s working for the street and remove teh belt for the track cause my girl doesnt like driving w/ out p/s on my car (yes she was the first person to drive the car besides me after the swap)

i think the easiest thing to do is use a 96 older pump.

i believe it will still have the same mounting locations

I used all the integra lines for my ITR rack. Everything fit. I just had to plug the small return line nipple on the fluid bottle. The Tegs don't use a third line.

Its MUCH easier to do if the engine is out of the car

P.S. the 98 ITR rack has the tightest ratio of ANY of the honda racks. Thats why I chose it. I live downtown and have to parallel park all the time. Call me a ***** if you must but thats why I love power steering.

Mike

I have a similar question:

Putting a '95 B18C1 (OBD-1) into a '91 Integra LS (OBD-0). The B18C1 is from a wrecked GSR and the PS Assembly was destroyed. Can I swap the PS assembly from the B18A1 (Gen2) to the B18C1 motor?

yes muckman, thats the way to go
just reuse your old power steering and bracket (pr3) bolts right on.
