I'm doing research for my brother, who is looking to get a '91 civic hatch. I've been searching on this site but haven't found too much about possible swaps into the 4th gen civic hb. I'm a VW guy but I know a decent amount about Honda. I'm thinking of a B18c1...what do I need to complete the swap? I'm assuming mount kit, axels, ecu/harness...anything else? Thanks in advance! Any suggestions on other possible swaps would be appreciated.

what model hatchback is it? dx/std/si? if its dx or std.. you're gonna haveta do a lil wiring.. but none of it is really that complicated especially if you got a lil experience, good luck..

Any B series with a mount kit will work. I would recommend looking into a 1st gen B16 though.

Any civic motor or integra motor will work. If you want to get real crazy the h22a will also fit with some work. Honestly B-series engines are great for power but they and their parts are unbelievably expensive. If you want a fast car I would stick with the stock motor- 1.6L sohc d-series and build a turbo for it. It will be a lot lighter than the swapped cars and if you blow up the motor you can pick up another one for a couple hundred bucks, unlike the b-series which may cost you more than a thousand or more depending on the kind. The dohc 1.6L NON-VTEC(zc) could also work really well with a turbo, and they are also cheap.
I guess it depends on how much money you wish to spend overall.

The bad thing is motor mount kits seem to be over $600. Otherwise it looks worthwhile. Is there any way around the hefty motor mount price tag?

I think a D16Z would fit in there for low cost.

600 for a mount kit????? I got my HCP kit for much less, don't buy the first one you see shop arpund they can be found for a lot cheaper.
