Default p28 on a non vtec SOHC

will a p28 setup give me a vtec selaniod code when used to run a d16y7? is there away around it?

obd-1 w/ the z6 dist.

yes you will throw a code for vtec, and maybe knock sensor because i think the y7 has one and the p28 doesnt look for it...if any of this information is wrong i apologize. just goin by what my friend experienced.
