opinion on swap. dont' eat me alive :)
like the title says, OPINION!! and a little advice on a swap. i read the FAQ and all that so ya. hmotorsonline.com has the b16a motor, tranny, ecu for $1750 or the complete changeover which has all sorts of other goodies. axles, half shafts, shift linkage, motor mounts. is it worth it to spend the $2200 on all that??
second question) i want to do the swap myself, so if i get the complete changeover what else will i need? wireing harness?? how hard would it be??
car is a 97 civic dx coupe.

its prob worth spending the extra for the complete as long as you get good axles and mounts.
you will need a different trans bracket then they give u.
you will also need a different throttle cable, and ac bracket if u wana use a d series compressor.

sweet. ok so i need
throttle cable
tranny mounting bracket
ac bracket.
now whats the deal with the ecu. if i got the jdm swap, is the ecu mounted on the opposite side from usdm models? so would i have to change the mounting position?
last question power steering? my car doesnt' have it now, would the new engine have the necessaries to set it up? i like not having power steering so i dont' particularly want it.

This is going to be a long process be patient with it. I know I got so mad sometimes when I did my first swap.
My 2nd gen b16 swap didn't come with everything for it... but I don't know when it comes to HMO.

the throttle cable get it from a del sol VTEC, the ECU will stay where it is now, because you will be using your civic's chassis and motor harness (plugs right in) the new motor will likely come with the P/S pump BUT its useless because you dont have the chassis parts for the P/S remove the compressor and bracket.

If you aren't sure what all it comes with just open up the link to the motor, they will usually tell you what it comes with, some have A/C and Power steering, some don't. Also I had a JDM GSR motor and the ecu was in the same spot.

reuse your stock harness, extend whatever plugs you need to and add what you need, 99-00 si rear t-bracket. throttle cable can be used off of a 90-93 or 94 and up integra. doesn't really matter, i used on from an LS.
powersteering, you won't need....more fun that way...and for the ecu..it depends if it is an obd1 or an obd2 ecu...if you got an obd1 ecu..you'll need the jumper harness from an obd2a to obd1
good luck with your swap...take your time with it and do it right the first time...

It's worth spending the extra money for the complete change over, then just see what you DON'T have from there and buy it...probably the cheapest and most efficent route....also, go with the LSD tranny for like 300 bux more, definately worth it if ur droppin that much on an engine already
