Default Crank Sensor on B20 swap OBDII

I swapped a JDM B20B into my 96 hatch. I don't have a crank sensor hooked up, so I am throwing the code. When I tried to install the sensor, there is no place to bolt it on the block - under the timing cover and next to the crank - that area is smooth and hole free.

So, my question is this: Where does the crank sensor go?

I need to keep the car OBDII for NYS inspection, so an OBDI conversion is out. Anyone run into this?

it notmally mounts to the oil pump from the obd2 engine. I THINK it may be possible to pin it off another sensor to trick the ecu, but i dont have an obd2 helm manual handy to see what the CKF compres signal with in the distributor.

I have looked in the service manual, and I got a print out from Honda on where it goes - there just isn't the mount to hook it to.

Anyone have a pick of where it goes?

Is it possible that the JDM motor never had one?

Are you using the jdm ecu or usdm?

im swapping a jdm b18c into my 99 civic si and supposedly their is no hook up for this sensor. if you use a jdm ecu you shouldn't have to use the plug.

I'm using a USDM ECU, so that's probably my problem right there.

So, if I use a JDM ECU, it will still pass OBDII diagnostics for NYS inspection?

that sensor goesnt exist on jdm motors you have 2 options
1. get a usdm oil pump and crank pulley and swap it on the jdm motor(PITA)
2. get a jdm ecu (not sure about smog)

I don't know the smog laws there, but it shouldn't throw any codes. Here in california technically all jdm motors have to be taken to a BAR referee. But often if the car looks stock enough they won't notice. Im going to see if i can just get mine smogged normally.

Here's another question: If I do an OBDI ecu on the car, does the diagnostic port still work?

Right, but my issue is for NYS inspection, you have to hook it up to a computer and it scans it. Will it pass inspection if the car is OBDII and the computer is OBDI?

i dont live in NY, but does it cost to go in for an inspection each time? if it doesn't we wont know until we try. becuase i can go to autozone and they can use there ODB2 reader and it pick up what error codes i have.

it wouldn't pass here in california. Also do you have to have a visual inspection as well? i think you would be missing one of the o2 sensors. i borrowed a obd2 tester from autozone too.

I have an OBDII tester. It is all wired for OBDII, except the CKF sensor, so I already have both O2 sensors. I am not worried about the visual inspection at all.

I have a jdm b20z also in a 99 crv and it's doesn't idle and we thinks it's because of the position sensor but seeing that it may not have one could it still cause it to not idle
