No Vtec in just finished swap! and running like crap
ok so here is my setup.
1988 crx si
1997 B18C1 OBD2 engine
stock p28 ECU
stock crx injectors with resistor box
I converted to OBD1
Blown hatch conv harness
the car is running very very rich, and it feels very low on power. it also feels as though it does not want to idle. it idles at about 300 rpm's
my vtec is not kicking in but I do have it wired right.
I have a check engine light(could that be why my vtec isnt working?)
I dont knwo how to check the codes on my ecu now that I am OBD1, I know there is a wire on the conv. harness to check, but Im not sure how it works.
any clue to why my car is running like ****?
the only thing I didnt hook up is the evap purge valve, I didnt think that would do anything, but I really dont even know what its for.
any ideas or trouble shooting clues would be a big help
thanks

I would do the CEL diagnostic and see what code(s) you are throwing.
Do a search or go to the "c-speed racing" site and it shows you where the harnes is and a list of what all the codes mean
The harness should be next to another both inside a green rubber holder thing above the ECU....

I am running an OBD0 to OBD1 harnees, I dont have that plug to jump the wires.
my car is originally OBD0

i would check all connections first then i would look into the conversion harness sometimes they could be messed up. we got one from blown90 and some of the wires were wrong. just something to think about

Re: No Vtec in just finished swap! and running like crap (Timmay)
I figured out how to do the cel codes, and it gave me a **** load of codes, but it turns out it was my map sensor, but I didnt even have a code for that.
I think vtec is kicking in, I cant hear it that well because I am running a stock crx exhaust, but I do notice a little audible change at around 4700rpm's
the only code I have now is 43 O2 sensore, so I need to look into that.

Why are you using the OBD0 injectors and reistor box with an OBDI P28 ECU? Why are you using an unchipped P28, wait why are you using a P28 ECU in the first place? The P28 will not control the IAB which will make you lose some good midrange power. I would say the ECU and using OBD0 injectors with the resistor box is one reason why you are running rich.
You should change to some OBDI injectors, ditch the resistor box and get a 94-95 P72 ECU or at the very least a chipped P28 and single stage intake manifold. The CEL's are stored in series so you might find that you are throwing a lot of codes.
