need suggestions on what to do next...
-i currently have up and running a 99 h22 civic.and a o3 cbr600 f4i.
-have a d16y8 sitting in the shed
-just bought today an 88 civic dx hatch ($300.00) (will try to post pix tomorrow)
it has good tires, sprint springs, tokico shocks, and a 3 point roll bar.
now my problem... do i put the d16y8 into the dx hatch and see how fast i can make it go?
or put the h22 in the dx hatch and make it scream! and put the d16y8 back in the 99 and put the ac & ps back in it and have a nice daily driver for school work and whatever...?....
as you can see my dilemma is very huge, and this is going to be a very importat decision, soo all help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Will a d16 bolt into a 88 hatch, or do you need custom motor mounts. that added cost may not make it worthwile. Also the cost of hte OBD0->OBD1 ecu crossover harness, and the wiring considerations... DPFI->MPFI ?

The 96-00 D motors will bolt into the 88-91 EF Civic's by simply reusing the EF driver's side mount and bracket. Nothing custom about the install whatsoever. I have a 00 D16Y7 in my 89 DX for a backup/winter car.
It would be much easier to install the Y8 into an EF than it would be an H22. I would keep the H22 EK and make it the powerhouse and use the DX as a backup or daily driver.

i've been thinking... this is the way to go.
-keep my h22ek, and continue working on it.
-f4i for the nice days
-put the y8 in the hatch. the obd conversion is no problem, im pretty familiar with that. with some work this should run pretty stout too huh..
what is dpfi->mpfi?

The 88-91 Civic DX and STD are Dual Point Fuel Injection (DPFI) and need rewired properly to Multi-port Fuel Injection (MPFI) when doing most swaps. You could reuse the DPFI setup but that kind of defeats the purpose of putting a better motor in it.
