Are you doing this yourself? Is the engine OBDI or OBD II? Here are some tips:
A.Get an engine lift(or drop the engine, raise the car, slide the engine out)
B.Get a helms manual(preferebly for both vehicles)
C.Have friends there, you will be taking trips to the parts store in the middle of the process.
D.If you plan to keep your stock header, you will need to extend the cat about 2" or so to make it bolt on to your exhaust.
E. Label, label, label everything you disconnect.
Have fun! I love my gsr hatch hybrid.

Yeah im doing it myself... both the engine and the car are OBDI... I have a GSR DC sport 4-2-1 header but i plan on taking it to a shop to get a custom exhaust fabricated. I have an engine lift so thats not a problem. The only thing im really worried about is the wiring of the JDM harness to the USDM harness on the car. Since i bought the car without an engine in it i dont have any of those references... kinda sucks but i got it real cheap so... im still pumped. I cant wait to see what it feels like to have a gsr engine with a LSD in a tiny HB!!!

well man, it's not gonna be fun doing the harness.. the main plugs on the ends are switched.. remember, jdm's are right hand drive.. (the end plugs that are on the left of a us harness are on the right of a jdm and vice versa).. you're either going to have to solder 100+ wire extensions and have the plugs essentially criss-cross in the engine bay so they'll plug in or do it the nice, clean, easy way and buy a us harness!.. safe yourself the time and headache and get a US harness! good luck and have fun!

i had one of my frens fabricate my harness from my exsisting dx harness...
ure exhaust will be to short or to long...mines was short...i was driving my car to the muffler shop wid jus off the headers...hehehhe...
get a TESTPIPE!!!...
my best 1/8 mile time so far is 13.5@100mph (last CMI)
good luck wid ure swap...
o yea get a skunk2 manifold...and change ure clutch to a racing one if ure planning to use sliks for racing...

What you will need is the entire engine harness from a USDM GSR engine. The layout of the engine and all the various sensors and harnesses is the same the weirdness is at the chassis connection point. The JDM cars are reversed so everything that is wired to the left hand connectors on our cars is wired to the right on JDM Etc. The USDM engine harness will make it totally PnP.

There are 2 harnesses:
1. Engine Harness-those are the wires that comes with the engine (on top). since it ends on the opposite side of the connector in your car, you will have to find USDM in order to reach it (make sure you have it in hand before you disconnect the old one from your engine, otherwise you gonna have a hard time reconnecting).
2. The connectors in your car (engine compartment) then run thru the firewall and connect to the ECU which is located inside the cabin, this is the firewall harness. No one replaces them. They are fixed unless you wanna start pulling it thru the firewall.
I hope this clears it up a little for you. You will know once you get the engine and compare it to yours present engine. Your best bet is to find an engine harness for a US spec which might be difficult.
