Sounds to me like some part of your switched ignition is getting a constant 12V+ What brought this about, any changes to the motor/ECU/wiring etc?

Do you have any remote starter? Most remote starters will turn-on the motor when you reconnect the battery.

I just cranked my car today, revved it up a little then took the the key out......the engine was still in, my pops pulled the battery ground.....and it was still running, i had to unplug the ecu to get it to stop....

Whatever wiring you did is obviously not correct.

I wouldn't start the thing anymore until you find out what's wrong. If you disconnected the battery ground and it still ran then that is scary.....

The thing is I didn't mess with anything ignition or major power items. i just added some needed wires and extended some other wires......i don't get it....

Re: My car turns on by itself *no key* (DropSquadCivic)
the car will stay runnin even if the battery is disconnected, it wont run long if the alternator has nothin to charge.. what happens if you start it then turn it back to off, does it studder or run continuosly? check your main ignition harness, make sure no wires are exposed ( like the white 12v constant, and the yellow ignition I think). probably something wrong with your ignition switch....

Something isn't right....
The car cannot turn on unless the main relay switch and ECU is on. And the ignition switch where your key goes sounds to me like something is broken with it.

yeah i was readin maxim a while back and they didi an interview with an exorcist, i think i'm gonna give him a call and ask if he does auto.....
A lot of people have been sayin there's somethin wrong with the ingnition switch(where the key goes in), how can that mess up though?

Well I checked the ignition switch, it's prefectly fine. One of the ignition wires is exposed(previous owner) but the car ran fine with LS motor. Where are the grounds for the ecu, pgm-fi main relay located? I'll try to check those. I have quite a bit of sensors tapped into a25 and b1 that's ok right? Appreciate everyone's input.
I've been eatin, sleepin, and shitin with a test light, voltmeter, and both the civic and prelude manuals....

Actually you can start any car and disconnect the battery and if the alternator is good the car will run regardless. So, I suggest you look at the ignition wiring...more than likely you have it wired wrong..

well it shouldnt have problems running when you remove the battery, so everything is fine there. the only way it would stall if is the alternator is bad. HOWEVER, dont even disconnect that battery while its running, because this can cause major issues, including destroying your computer. the battery acts as a "load" for the alternator, whether the battery is charged or not. when the battery is disconnected, there is no longer enough load for the alternator and can often cause voltage spikes from the alternator as high as 40 volts, which is plenty to mess up all of your electronics in the car including the ECU. in short, never run the car without a battery connected.
