Default MUGEN THIN HEADGASKET---YES OR NO---

What do you think about the mugen headgasket...it is said to raise compression by .2...anyone have it or any feedback...is it worth the money and will the .2 compression make a difference...

I've heard that the Mugen gasket raises compression by .4. In my opinion it is not worth the money. Just do a 2 layer stock gasket. If your head is at the machine shop just have it milled a little and do the 2 layer...if not, then i wouldn't pull the head just to put in a head gasket.

I dont really want to mill the head...How safe is it to use a 2 layer stock gasket... How much cr with using the stock 2 layer

why? what's wrong with milling the head?...get a nice port job at the same time..then it'll be worth it. Compression is good....but its not gonna make too much of a difference until you have some more mods..get a nice 4-1 header with a 2.5" collector and some type r cams and valvetrain and a good ecu program. Then the compression will help you out a lot more. I was actually using a 1 layer headgasket for a while..just the middle layer of the honda gasket and it lasted 40k miles then it blew. I have a 2 layer now and its perfect..I doubt i'll ever have a problem. I think the 2 layer raises compression about .2.

I just barely installed mine on my B16A and love it. The .4 really helped midrange and top end. I wouldn't mill the head because you'll have to start worrying about valve to piston clearances depending on how much you mill it. I would just try the head gasket. for a $130 retail I feel it's totally worth it.

It's an advertised .4 increase in compression. It really only raises it by .3.
