Default Motor VIN plate HELP!

For background, my red ek hatch got stolen last Thursday and was recovered Friday.. Two guys were caught stripping the car and arrested.. The interior was disassembled and motor 5/6 pulled, but I retrieved all major parts.. another 30 minutes later, and I'd be telling you a different story..

The block and tranny's VIN plate was broken/screwdriven off when they stole it, how do I go about taking care of this? The motor is a US GSR motor with receipts, etc.. I don't know where to start and was hoping there was an easy way of going about this.. Thanks!

yeah...it's illegal to remove those plates. I suggest confront whoever you got it from about it at the very least. If it's legit, I don't see any reason why someone would remove the plates. If you know what I mean.

the reason why they removed the plates was because they were stealing it.. Bottom-line is that I have a legit GSR motor in my garage with no plates on it.. What's the process of reporting and legalizing the block?

nevermind...I thought you said the people you got it from removed the plates.

Call the Department of Transportation and see what you can do. I'm sure they can help you or they can direct you somewhere that can.

the VIN isn't on the block, it's only on the tranny. the block only has the block number engraved in it

well, my b18b doesn't have the VIN on the block. i just went and looked. i have papers for my engine, i got it from a local junkyard, so I know it's legit, too. there aren't even any holes in the block there.
