Motor mount question? plz help
ok, im thoroughly confused, after doing a search and reading, I got the impression that for a swap (b18 into ek), you need the cam gear mount (place racing or HASport). Is that the only mount that needs to be changed?
Also, which inserts should I buy, are they really neccessary? (Excessive rattling a prob?), is prothane the only company that makes them, and how much should they cost?
sorry about all the questions, I really want to make sure I do the swap right.
thanx guys

Re: Motor mount question? plz help (SilverCIVIC96)
u need the 99-00 cam gear mount that bolts to the block and the rear tranny mount from the same (99-00). MAKE SURE U USE THE DRIVERS SIDE LOWER MOUNT THAT THE AC MOUNTS TO. if not, the upper drivers side "liquid filled" motor mount will break. i know first hand. the motor mounts are not necessary. they do cause it to seem like its idling rough becuase it gets transfered through the body.

so you dont think I need aftermarket mounts? what if I want to eventually go JRSC? will that make enough torque to damage mounts on hard launches? thanx for your info, first hand exprience is the most reliable source

i dont think u need aftermarket mounts. like i said, the biggest suggestion is to use the drivers side lower mount that houses the AC compressor. stock integra mounts will work fine even with a JRSC. JRSC has a smooth power delivery on them so it shouldnt tear up the stock mounts. the motor mount inserts do a good job of keeping the motor in its place though.

Re: Motor mount question? plz help (SilverCIVIC96)
i used the stock integra one but the AC compressor will only line up with 2 of the 4 bolts. i made a pattern and drilled and tapped the GSR lower mount to accept my SOHC compressor. from what i hear the 96 del sol VTEC (make sure its VTEC, not SI or S models) accepts the SOHC compressor onto this exact swap. the other option is to discharge the AC lines and get a B series AC compressor then refill. i think either way its about the same cost. by the way, have fun with the bolts on the AC compressor. little to no room. i had to use a wrench turning it like 1/19th of a turn at a time. it sucked. took FOREVER.
