nope, Y21 internals will not work in an S1 casing. But if you get a hold of a YS1 tranny, Y21 internals will fit in. YS1 is cable designed on the outside but actually uses hydro B16 internals/gearing on the inside. S1/J1/Y1 are all similiar to each other but not compatible with Y21 or YS1 trannies.

You can put an ITR LSD in a Y21, but you'll need the final drive ring gear along with the LSD from an ITR or CTR tranny + minor modification to the inside of the Y21 casing will need to be done in order to fit the ITR/CTR ring gear, as it is bigger in diameter than a Y21 ring gear.

what exact year + type of car do you own?

the JDM cable S1/J1/Y1 trannies only use 2 shafts for their shifter forks. 92+ b-series trannies use 3 shafts so you couldn't just drop the Y21 internals into the S1 case.
you also couldn't use the shifter forks from the S1 on the Y21's shifter fork shafts because the shifter forks are different sizes and will not fit around the syncrho hubs properly. that and because of the difference of older 2 shafts vs newer 3 shafts design, the forks are made differently.

this one someone posted awhile back, someone had custom made it, but Hasport or HCP is developing these right now, and the last thing i heard they will be out in August or September.

they got so many requests for these from us EF guys, b/c its getting harder and harder to find Good cable trannies. i can't wait for this to come out.

katman, have done this or know anyone that has done it? i have a ys1 case, in which i placed a 96 gsr internals in. i was unable to close the case, and left that alone for the past six months. i know you can use a type r lsd in a cable tranny, but that's with the cable tranny internals. can you shed some light into this for me! thankx
