i'm using a '00 ITR head on my ls/vtec. that year ITR head is OBDII, but that doesnt even matter!!!
which OBD your head or block is means nothing as for which ecu you will need.

first things first:
what year and OBD distributor and injectors are you using?

THAT is what will determine what ECU you need (or dist. and injectors)

its like this.... if you are trying to use a B16 (non OBD) ECU with your ls/vtec setup, then you need NON-OBD injectors (90-91 Integra or 89-91 JDM B16) and a NON-OBD distributor (same as mentioned).
..this would be the easiest route since you mentioned this is supposed to go into a CRX.

otherwise you would have to re-wire the car for OBDI and use a OBDI ECU, injectors AND distributor. thats just how that works.

stick with NON-OBD parts (mentioned above) and you'll be set.

Which wiring harness would he need to get if he went non obd? I know it would have to be a non obd harness but which harness is non obd and able to run vtec?

you could just run the STOCK CRX harness. if its a DX harness, then you need to run the extra wires for the 2 extra injectors since the DX only has 2, the 3 wires for the vtec solenoid, and 1 wire for the knock sensor. (you could do this yourselves)

otherwise if its an Si model CRX harness, then he just needs to add the 3 wires for vtec and 1 for the knock sensor (not hard to do)
