ls/vtec stock numbers?
here is the setup i was thinking about doing but i would like to know how much power it will give me (approx assuming healthy motor), i have searched but i get soo many scrambled results i can't really get what i need. so heres the setup im thinking of. b18b, with b16 head, stock gsr ecu, stock i/h, exhaust. about how much power and torque will thi produce? thanks

Re: ls/vtec stock numbers? (tek_civic)
i wouldnt use a GSR ecu, i'd run a chipped p28 or a p30 or obd-1 pr3
Expect to put down about 160-170hp with stock pistons.

Re: ls/vtec stock numbers? (irev210)
im a little low on my ecu number terminology, but isn't the p28 the ecu i have now> (d16z6, 94 civic ex)? thanks for the tip, it would probibly be more of a temp thing until i could get hondata or a vafc tuned to better air fuel specs.
anyways tnx for the info, thats pretty much all i wanted, i will try to search for more combinations that would net me more power. how would itr pistons and itr valvetrain do in this combo? i think i will be able to get some pretty cheap.

I dont think it's that bad personally. 140whp is roughly 160hp to the crank, B16 territory. Because if I remember correctly, by using the stock LS pistons with an LS/VTEC setup you are yeilding some stupid-low compression numbers.
Save yourself some money and pickup a cheap set of JDM b16 pistons and enjoy the 11.5:1 compression ratio and then expect to see the numbers you're hoping for

Re: ls/vtec stock numbers? (AzN_Flava)
so as you can see by that graph( the IB one), the vtec activation needs to be somwhere around 4500-5000, and thos b16 cams NEED to go, they are expecting 1.6L when your pumping 1.8. that and the **** *** pistons are a major drop off point, the stock ls pistons have a low compression ratio (9.x : 1) and if your going all motor your gonna want somthing in the 11's would be ideal, if you do all this then i dont see why HP numbers couldent get to the upper 180's.
and by the way pills, how is the LS 5th gear working for you?

Re: ls/vtec stock numbers? (skribblah)
the proposed set up is gsr camshafts (not much better then b16' but i still think a tad better)
and the compression ratio is 10.8
b18b bottom end with compression of 10.8 (not the stock ls pistons)
b16a2 head
you guys think 160whp is achievable with just this?

Re: ls/vtec stock numbers? (AzN_Flava)
im not very knowlageable on the subject but out of the blue i would say so considering the previous setups. bump for someone who can say for sure!
edit: actually i would guess it would be a little less as the guy up there has a bit of work done and makes for a good comparison, but you might make 160.
