Icon6 LS-V Turbo or LS-Turbo

Alright before people jump down my throat, I have done a bunch a research on this topic but its all "he say's she say's" crap. I know the LS has more torque than vtec motors period. But vtec puts out more power on top and has more flow in their head's than LS's. I've seen LS turbo's built with 400 hp with like 340 torque. So for a nice drag car what would be the best way to go? I have a lsv in the building process; b16a2 head/b18b block with a hydro gsr tranny. Whats your inputs?

Budget and power goals. The ls makes more torque because they dont rev high like vtec heads. An ls engine requires more torque at a lower rpm to net the same hp as a high rev, lower torque vtec head.

Depending on how much power you want, youre probably going to want forged rods and pistons. In that case either way youre going to be building a shortblock. If you want cheap power, vtec. If you dont care about power and just want a nice torquey engine, go ls. Either way both builds are going to cost almost the same. ls might cost a little more if you decide to go heavily into the valvetrain, cam it, springs, port work, etc. the vtec will probabky end up being cheaper since it doesnt need any work to make good numbers

Yeah I wanna make it so that I have about 500 to the wheels. How much the project is gonna cost doesn't phase me, the more it cost just means the longer it will take for me to build it thats all. I know I'll have to put in forged pistons/rods in the build and upgrade all the parts. I just wondering on people's experience is it wise just going LS turbo or LSV turbo.

For 500hp your best bet is vtec. Itll make power easier amd take less work to get that power. Stock port ls heads start choking around 400hp
