LS swap in my 93 ex
alright im planning on swapping a b18 LS motor into my car. I've ridin in a friends car with a ls swap and i love it...considerably more torque than the D series which i love and its a good start if i wanted to boost later on down the road, but have just a few questions is a b18ls(not sure on exact number) obd1? can i use the b18 axles? and what tranny would be best (i dont want extremely long gears)
thanks in advance

If its a b18a than it for sure obd1 and i believe 94-95 b18b is obd1.
Yes u have to use the LS axles.
I have a LS swap in my 95 civic and the gearing isnt as long as u realize.
But if u want u could go with a GSR tranny it wouldnt be as short as say a b16 tranny, but def. shorter than LS.
Try the LS and im sure u wont be dissapointed.

Find out what year the motor is..
90-91 B18a1 is obd0 ,cable tranny
92-93 B18a1 is obd1 ,cable tranny
94-95 B18b is obd1 ,hydro tranny
96-01 B18b is obd2a/b ,hydro tranny
If you're not certain on the year you can tell by the intake manifold and also the color plugs on the distributor..white plugs are obd0,,grey are obd1,,not sure what obd2 looks like..And if no distrbibutor or intake manifold is on the motor there is a date stamped on the head right above the exhaust ports..
And yes you use the integra axles..If you have the 90-93 halfshaft use the 90-93 integra axle(s)..If you have the 94+ halfshaft then use the 94+ integra axle(s).
90-91 B18a1 is obd0 ,cable tranny

94-95 B18b is obd1 ,hydro tranny

sweet!! I've been looking for info like this forever!! cant believe I'd randomly find it in this thread...been searching the archives forever...my donor teg is a late 91 build so I've been wondering if it was before or after the obd1 change-over
um, more onto the date stamped on the head.
what should it read if it's obd-0 or obd-1??

I believe just the engine harness that came with the LS engine should plug into ur original Civic harness.
I didnt wanna answer cuz im not a 100% sure, but noone was answering.
Do a quick search and im sure youll find the answer.

okay i did a search and found out that i could use my stock harness, i'd just have to rewire for the injectors and the dizzy? or it said that i could use the stock civic injectors because they're the same CC.....is this information correct? because the b18b is obd1 and to my knowledge i thought they had the same plug?
but if i did the LS harness would it plug directly into my civic cluster? or do i have sumthing wrong
