For the Love of GOD!! (B16A2 or B18C Automatic swap info please?)
Has anybody done this swap into a EF, EG or EK? I have searched for months in this forum and others. I can't find any real good information. One member here said that it was a bitch to wire an LS auto TCM into an EF. Since Civics done have TCM's (it had 30+wires). Is that member correct, is it the same case for EG's and EK's? So I'm guessing I should stay away from automatic B18C's and LS swaps? So if I buy a complete B16A2 automatic swap, would it be pretty easy to install (Plug and Play)? Does anybody know if there would be any complicated wiring for the transmission? This would go into a car that is already an automatic. I know that Honda automatics are weak and the B16A auto cams are lame. I just want a quick daily driver in a high traffic area. I don't plan to add any major power adders.
Thanks

should be really easy, just make sure you get the auto tranny ECU as well, wiring harness should be the same.
Make sure you go with an engine setup that's similar to your car...like if it's a 98 civic, swapping an obd0 auto ls will be a pain.
in an EG (92-95 civic) i'd go with a JDM B16a auto tranny, that should be pretty fun.....for an auto. OR, a B20, with a JDM b16 auto tranny, more torque would be nice for the power sucking auto.

Re: For the Love of GOD!! (Trademark)
i wouldnt use a b16a or b18c for a automatic. Reason being these engines get their most power from 7000+ rpms. With an automatic, even if you floor it, it will barely get to that rpm, and when it shifts, it will shift down so far in the rpms that it will feel really slow. You will be really dissapointed if you put a b16a automatic in your car. Will feel just about as slow as a civic ex. b18c won't be much better either. If you want a quick car for automatic, swap in a b20b/z. they have enough torque and will make your car feel quick.

Also keep in mind that automatic transmissions are MUCH bigger than manual transmissions. There may be fitment issues here. And if you go ED/EF, B-series mount kits WON'T work for automatic transmissions.

While we're on the topics for automatics...
Got an auto 96 ls with a 89-91 PR3 head waiting to go in. I got everything I need really but don't know what to do about the ecu. Can't find an automatic ecu that would work with the LS/VTEC. Can't really go OBD2 because only the JDM GSR's in 96 had automatic OBD2s. So swapping over to OBD1 would be no problem... right? What should I do?

doing the swap as we speak its not that bad we did have to notch the frame and remake the tranny mount as for the wiring im doing it right now doesnt seem to bad but will keep u posted
ps if you want to do it .... do it I got the same answers here im using a 94 ls motor and transmission. You do have to make sure u have the tcm and harness plug I payed $100 bucks for the damn plug
Good luck

exactly what i was told by a professional independent Honda & Acura service garage that does performance work and swaps as well. The transmission is too big and you will have to do some cutting, and there is no Transmission Mount that will work. This was an Auto B18C SiR-G into a 2000 Civic Hatchback. The shop was called "Orlando Honda & Acura Specialists."
