Logical 6th gen Civic Swap

6th gen Civic Swap Advice
When my tickets catch up to me, insurance for my GSR will kill me. Im considering selling my GSR and getting a 6th gen over a 5th gen (for looks) '96 Civic DX Coupe and doing an engine swap and possibly turbo. Im trying to decide on which combo to go with. If the 6th gen chasis is really a good choice for a swap and which engine would be best. Money is not really a factor Im sure it will be alot cheaper than a new GSR. I just want something that has alot of support, commonly done, something that is easy and reliable. Im thinking B18c or H22. Dont want anything too expensive or anything with high compression
1.) Obviously the DX doesnt have VTEC. But Ive heard the wiring isnt that complicated and Id have to get a new ECU for the swap anyways.
2.) Id like to go with an H22 and I know mounting kits exists but maybe it will be too hard and will have problems fitting? In that case maybe a B18c would be a better choice
3.). I love my GSR so I want an swap with VTEC and a high redline. Is there a 2.0L honda that meets those conditions? Obviously the 2.0L engines from the RSX and S2000 are too expensive and wouldnt fit easily.
4.) When you buy these Honda engines from warehouses do they come with trannys? Id like to get a JDM tranny for the LSD but dont want the higher CR if I go turbo later. Im trying to prevent a total rebuild just to lower compression - if possible.
Any advice?

I kinda like the Idea of a 6th Gen (EK) '96 Civic with a H22. Who has a H22 in a 6th gen Civic? It gotta be a really tight fight but I know its possible. What other kind of problems would I run into with having such a large motor in a tiny engine bay? I think Id have to relocate power steering etc. What else? What about halfshaft hook up, would ther be able problems getting everything to line up?
When you buy a motor, does it normally come with the tranny? Would I need a prelude ECU or would it be best to just go with an reprogrammed aftermarket one?
Thx guys

if u do decide on a H22 in a ek(96-00) hb.. I would tell u to make sure to get very sticky tires...something even similar to drag radials for the street.. and also to make sure to get the h22 bolt in kit that comes with the front reinforcement bar which will stop from u cracking the frame ... and don't get to strong of a clutch if u decide to run stock axles..and make sure to keep the power sterring you'll kill yourself after if u don't and get some sway bars.. and a nice suspension always helps with the PLOW or heavy push u get when u take turns rather quick with a h22-powered civic.. well that's my .02 pesos..
good luck if u go with it.. h22 civics run mid's 13's with I'H'E pretty easy

They usually come with trannies. At least the Japanese motors, like my b16 do. It's more difficult to get them separately. Make sure either way.
I read in your bio you need turbo help. Let me know when, I'm looking into doing a turbo myself. I'd be interested in helping out with that. Anyways, if you need help with that or the engine, let me know. We've got most of the equipment you might need.
Hey, did I ever race you at Leicester?

Just do the B20z swap if you are going to go turbo. The motor is a 2 liter and has a compression ration in the 9s. Or you can swap a Vtec head and have a nice motor that will eat a Type-R any day.
