local shop found b16,w/R cams, and GSR tranny better then GSR swap?
well,,i talked to the shop im gonna have install my motor
and he hasnt got a GSR swap yet
but he did find a b16 with Civic type R cams,,and a a GSR tranny
and some type of aftermarket computer(he said something about a 2 stage VTEC)at least thats what he told me
its 3700$$ shipped for the swap
also,,he is gonna contact me later today if its a JDM.,,and milage
im pretty sure its JDM cuz most of the engins the place gets are JDM
can someone please explain all the b16 engine codes,,and HP ratings??
now compare this b16 with R cams,,GSR tranny,,and sorry i dont know the computer,,
to a GSR swap with I/H/E
what kinda times for the b16 in my 94 hatch??
a GSR will prob b the same $$ right??3700$$ or so?
ill post more when he calls back
i wanna know if i should act on this,,or wait for a GSR swap,
and i may SC,or turbo later down the road,,but for now,,it will b basic I/H/E

I'd be surprised if it put 155 hp to the wheel....I'd rather have a gsr motor any day!!!

just gather more info on it and found out if it's legit, if it's been beating on, etc..if it's good, get it..if not, get b18c..don't rush into things..take your time and find the better choice..

B16 w/ JUST R cams and a GSR tranny?
BULLSHIT! That is around 220 or so flywheel HP. That would require ALOT wilder cams than stock CTR cams. Would also require port/polish, larger injectors, an ecu or vafc to control those large injectors, would have to have the ecu reprogrammed to get rid of the rev limiter so it could rev higher, would need high compression pistons, stronger rods to withstand the STUPID high rpms it would have to run, I would imagine the crank spun balanced, polished, perhaps knife edged, lots of combustion chamber work (way beyond most "local" shops ability to mess with)
Other things too....but in other words, they are full of ****. Besides that, at those power levels a 1.6L engine isnt goign to be as reliable as a stock 1.8 B18c.
Get the B18c. Displacement is your friend

A B16A with any tranny other than the good B16A trannies like the follwoing are not worth **** in terms of acceleration because the gearing is wrong for the B16A powerband:
Good trannies:
99-00 Civic Si
1994-1997 Del Sol VTEC
Any Integra or Civic Type R tranny
JDM J1/S1 cable (for 1st-gen **** with cable clutch)
USDM Y21 1992-1993 GS-R tranny (again for cable)
All other **** like GS-R, LS, etc. will suck *** for acceleration because the RPMs will drop too low between shifts, and the final drive could be a 4.26 which also sucks for a very narrow-powered motor like the B16A.
Get the GS-R swap if you're going to spend $3,600.00
One last thing:
No way in HELL that B16A got over 200whp.
