Default K24 (TSX) motor in my 95 hatch.

I definately want to go with the k but witch k is where I'm debating. I've read a lot up on the k20 swap into my car but not the k24. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of having the k24 instead of the k20. I'm planning on running high compresion on which ever one I get. Probably about 11.5-12.0:1. Some cams too. Are the trannies interchangeable? Any links are helpful so thanks in advance for your help. Oh and if you're gonna write something stupid like "why don't you research it yourself" go to another post and do it. This is a forum where ppl ask other ppl questions.

the TSX engine is a little different than the other k series. the K24 from the accord or CRV is probably easier to do. yes the trannys are interchangable. You don't really want to rev the K24 very high since it has an awful r/s ratio, but it makes gobs or torque, especially with some high compression pistons in there

why would it be easier to do an accord or crv?

I'd stick to the tsx engine,if its an option. The other k24 engines are a bigger version of the k20a3 engines. No "big" lobe for vtec and a weaker bottom end.

There is a slight difference in wiring the TSX and the throttle body is drive by wire, rather than traditional cable throttle. This could easily be resolved by swapping a cable throttle body, and depending on how much difference the wiring is,swapping on a Rsx wiring harness, which is roughly $250 new from acura(from engine to ecu).

Transmissions can be swapped. The rod/stroke ratio on the k24's isnt bad at all..it's in the 1.5x's ....it's the huge stroke which makes the engine not a high revver. The piston speed will be extremely high, which will put a ton of stress on the rods, pistons, sleeves, crank and bearings.

Visit http://www.k20a.org for any K engine/swap info.

There should be some EG K24A2 coming soon. I just sold 2 engines to H-T members and both of them are putting them on EG. If you really want it, wait and see how it goes or try it by yourself.

I have the K24 from an 03 Accord in my EG, with the base RSX trans. It puts down 160 hp and 160 tq to the wheels with only a header and junk intake. The K-Pro tuning has something to do with it too.

For just about every type of driving around the Accord/CR-V/Element engines are just fine. They have so much torque it isn't even funny, car accelerates so effortlessly I hardly ever take it over 5k on the street, and then only if I want to spin the tires in 1st..an RSX TypeS trans would be a waste in my opinion as 1st gear would be unusable most of the time...

I would like a bit more top end and will be looking to swap in the cams from a Civic Si to see if that makes any difference. With the Si putting out the same HP, but being 400cc smaller, the cams have got to be a bunch bigger...if that won't work then I guess I'll have to put on the RSX TypeS head I have...

since the subject of trannies came up...does anyone know if the k24 will mount up to a civic em2 tranny?

There is a slight difference in wiring the TSX and the throttle body is drive by wire, rather than traditional cable throttle. This could easily be resolved by swapping a cable throttle body

So all I have to do is change the TB on the tsx to an accord TB or do I have to change the tsx manifold too.
