is a k20a2 street legal in a ek9
Hey what's up tuner heads,well here the deal.I have a ek9 with a ls motor,and I'm interested in getting a k20a2 for my ek9 and selling my ls motor.now I have the money for the k motor.but I was told you that a k20a2 is not street legal,and I wanna know if this is true.now keep in mind I stay in cali,so this law may not count for other states,
Cars-96civic 2dr/o1 gsr and ek9/ls motor bored to a 2.o.

actually, it is legal if u pass the visual and emission test from the ref.. that if u decide to let the state noe u doin the swap...lots of people in ca swap engine and dun really tell the state...i did my h22a swap and let them noe, pass smog and visual test, they gave me a sticker, BAR sticker...street legal now hehehe

not legal as of yet. you'll need a custom header which is why you cannot get it BAR'ed by the state ref.

yes, it comes with it's own header, but the header is designed for it's own car aswell.

^^^ Learn to use grammer you friggin tool.
You have to use a custom header because the K motors rotate in the opposite manner that the D, B, and H series motors do. Exhaust ports in the rear and intake ports in the front.....like it should have been done in the first place.
Edit: The tool comment was directed at Dtrans....or whatever his name is.

Unlike any of the other engines the K20 sits with the exhaust manifold pointed toward the driver, instead of toward the front of the vehicle. The header has to be custom made because civics aren't made for that style, and the header that comes with the engine will not fit.
