K20 or D-series turbo?
Ok guys, I just started my new job and am looking toget this pos motor out asap. The question is, what should I go with? Anyone that has done a K20 swap, how difficult is it? I've done B-series swaps into a crx and also domes D16a6 turbo in an Ef sedan. Never done anything outside of that. I know you have to cut and Wells things and I do have access to those things.
I just wanna know just how much of a pain it is for a K20 swap.

This thread is useless lol... Do some research.. K swap is gonna cost you easy 6k plus.. Tons of sites with info how to do it.. Turbo D-series can be just as fun if done correct.. Its your personal preference..

Something i can do that i can take great pride in and learn a lot from doing. ownedevo10 and typerfit, you guys obviously don't have any good input so y'all can take your useless comments elsewhere.
Yes a d-series turbo would be easier but i want to do something i nor any of my friends have done. Plus i plan on making this car a possible father and soon project if my dad can find the time to do this with me.

What is your budget? Answer that question at least.
My advice is to make a list of the pros and cons of each and go from there and decide what to do since you never listed any real goal for the car.

You will never do the K swap.
You can talk all about it, but there have been so many thread where people even go as far as to buy the K motor, pull their stock engine... and then they never finish.
Statistics are against you.
D-turbo isn't nearly as pricey and if you just do a mild 200hp build on a decent motor then you don't even need to do any engine work.

D series ftw! The K series are yes way cooler and yes way more expensive, but you can do just as much with a D series if you do it right and have just as much fun as any B or K series anyday...

Re: K20 or D-series turbo?
You obviously didn't read everything i had said. I've already done a D-series boosted before. I have searched already on EVERYTHING. I just want to get advice from people i can actually talk to, not from searching forums and write-ups.
$1500? Lol that would definitely not cover all costs for a d series turbo. I've already done the numbers and they would both equal the same amount spent.
I don't ever make a post or thread without doing my homework.

Re: K20 or D-series turbo?
Yes you can do a turbo d16 for $1500 easily. We just did my friends car for less than $1200 with ALL brand new parts, mostly ebay but still, works great for now.
On the opposite end of the spectrum Ive got about $3500 in my turbo D, but Ive got a forged block, worked head and cam, quality USA built manifold/turbo/injectors/clutch but am shooting for 300+whp
K20 is just to many mods to the structure, interior and wiring of the car AND makes your car a heavy hitter for thieves.

So If your puttin 8k into a turbo D setup your obviously going to 5-600hp plus.. Then why go with a stock k20 setup? You dont make sense lol... I just find this hilarious now.. Subscribed...

Re: K20 or D-series turbo?
You can have a ton of fun with a turbo d. But if you go k then my opinion for a k build. Get a k24z7 block and slap a k20a2 head on it. Same idea as ls vtec with a b. The a2 head has vtec with both cams opposed to other k heads having it with only one cam actually under vtec. Build it and of course eventually boost but make sure you have deep pockets. And guessing from your comment about just starting a job they're probably not that deep. D is cheap and as you know fun and easy to deal with. Go either z6 or y8, each can handle upwards of 220 hp stock and still cheap to build. And a built d can produce upwards of 350- 500 hp It's not just about how much it will cost to do, you have to afford maintenance too. Realistically you need to figure out your commitment to the project and then commit. If you can do k series go for it. I prefer d myself tho

Where the hell are you getting your numbers evo?
Thank you boosted. So far I have done 2 head swaps, intake manifold swap, 2 head gaskets, interior work, cleaned up the wiring nightmare the previous owner did, and am about to do a total overhaul on this motor so it'll last me a bit longer. So I think its safe to say I'm very committed to this car.
