Just got a CRX... NEED engine swap info!
I just got an '86 CRX. The car cost me $50 so I figure why not and have some fun with it.
I just happen to have a '96 B18C1 engine from my brother's GSR sitting in my garage and I was wondering what I would need to make this swap possible? I have gathered that I will need a mount kit (HASport-$600), and I will also need to do work on the wiring and the firewall as the GSRs intake manifold will interfere with it.
I would like to know if anyone has experience with this swap and give give me the lowdown on it: what I need, how much work is involved, and if it's worth it?
I have about $2000 total in order to make this work, so could you let me know if I could complete the swap within that budget range?
Also, if the swap will be too much money and hassle, my other option would be to sell the engine and go for the JDM B16a and swap that in. Any info on that would be good also.
I have searched, but I can't find any information pertaining to '84-'87 CRXs, I always find the next generation.
Thanks.

First if the car isn't a FI Si model then I would seriously consider another car if you want to swap. I'm not saying you couldn't use a carbbed model, it's just that it would require a lot more work - fuel tank + pump + lines, lots of wiring, etc. If it's a Si then start with the HASport mount kit and go from there. They are pretty much the only company that caters to the older 1st gen CRX's when it comes to B series swaps. You will have some added work on your hands as opposed to a 2nd gen CRX B series swap, but the end result will be a fast and fun car.

It is not the carbbed model, it is the Si model. I know the HASport mount kit will ne needed and hopefully I can talk to HASport soon and they could also guide me. But thanks for the help thus far and any other information would be awesome.
