just got a civic with wire tuck now it won't start
i just got a 93 civic hatch with a h22 swap and wire tuck and it shut off while i was driving then it wouldn't start, then i noticed the fuse for the battery was blown. what was weird is the stock fuse is an 80 amp but the guy had a 100 watt amp fuse in there. i put a 80 amp fuse in and it started fine but then shut off right away and blew the fuse. i also noticed the night before the headlights were real dim so idk if that has anything to do with it. i checked out all the wires that i could see and none of them looked torn or damaged so I'm not sure whats wrong.

Chances are he put the 100A fuse because it was blowing 80's... without a doubt, the issue lies with the wiring for the wire tuck. Time to get real comfortable with your multimeter and go through the entire harness... lol. You can't check wires by just looking at them, and I bet if it's had a "tuck", the majority of the wiring that's actually been modified is probably somewhat hidden. I feel for ya - it's not going to be fun... good luck

well i took the alternator out and got it tested at pep boys and they said it was bad so i put a new alternator in and it started right up and it stays running but the motor bogs down when i turn the headlights on, any reason that could be?

Ground / power wire issue. Something is grounding out more than likely. Guaranteed it's a wiring issue. Just go thru all the power and grounds until u find the issue

i was talking to someone about it and they said my electronic load detector could be bad, is that a possibility? and the wires to the headlights are just wrapped around the terminals instead of soldered so maybe the bad connection is causing too much resistance? ill try unhooking the headlights and then switching them on and see if anything different happens.

This is very true, when it comes to wiring most people don't diagnose it correctly because they get overwhelmed looking at all the wires. Sure its easy to replace parts but what it really comes down to is patience and how clean was the wire tuck. If the headlight wires aren't connected properly I would automatically start by checking every single wire in the tuck to make sure it is properly run and properly shielded within a wire loom so it won't rub and short against the body or other wires. Also make sure you check connections, what you fix now regarding this wiring will save you tons of time and headaches in the future and make you car a reliable daily driver.
