Default Just Bought A JDM 94 B18C and had a few Q's

Hi All,

I just bought a JDM 94 B18C and had a couple of questions. I'm thinking of replacing all of the major gaskets (oilpan, head, valve cover, intake manifold, and header) before dropping the motor in. I want to do this so that everything is fresh before going in. One of my questions is are all of the gaskets the same as USDM motors? Especially the head gasket. Does the JDM motor use a different head gasket to get more compression? I'm sure I'll have more questions, I just can't think of any right now. Thanks in advance for any help.

usdm and jdm motor uses same gaskets. the jdm engine gets the higher compression from slightly different pistons.

Already planning to change the timing belt. I'm kind of undecided about whether to go with OEM Honda or something like a GReddy belt. This car (92 Civic Hatch) is gonna be primarily used for drag racing with track time at least twice a month. For now the power mods are gonna be limited to I/H/E. Just need enough to get to the 13s to run in NHRA Sport Compact ET2 Class. I dunno if the OEM Belt will hold up to this kind of abuse or if I should get an upgraded one. I will replace the water pump too. Intake manifold gonna keep stock (I want to try to get the car CA certified), but picked up a PasswordJDM intake manifod gasket.
