Default JDM TYPE R MOTOR INSTALL WENT WRONG

INSTALLED TYPE R INTO BROTHERS CAR, 94 EX COUPE
BUT CAR RUNS LIKE STRAIGHT CRAP ON A VTEC COMPUTER BUT AS SOON AS YOU INSTALL A NON VTEC ECU IT RUNS NORMAL. WENT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY SAID UPGRADE THE ECU FROM OBD1 TO OBD2 TO GET THE CAR TO RUN PROPERLY. I PERSONALLY DONT THINK SO I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING MORE COMPLEXED WHY IT RUNS LIKE IT DOES.

First please don't yell. I know your upset it didn't work as planned.
I am assuming ITR Motor. What kind of ECU did you use? The ITR motor needs a p73 ECU or a chipped ECU with the ITR parameters.
The 94 EX is an OBD1 car, ITR's ECU's are OBD2. You will need a wire harness to convert.
Get a Hondata S300 or Crome for you P28 ECU out of you Civic and get it tuned. This requires no harness and you'll get more power out of the engine.

Incorrect. You do not "need" the P73 or an ecu with "ITR parameters". While it is important what ECU he is using, its not critical that he uses a P73.

You don't want to convert the car to OBD2, thats not going to solve your problem. What ECU are you using?

I was assuming that he was trying different stock ECU's. Hopefully a p73 or at least a p72. I don't think a stock p28 would be a very choice for an ITR engine.

Certainly not my first choice of ECU's to use, but it should still be able to idle the car fine.
