JDM ITR suspension and brakes install on USDM Integra GSR
I finally managed to get my JDM ITR stuff installed on my GSR.
It's been a royal pain because it was hard finding the correct information.
The JDM Integra type R has 36 mm axles vs. 32 mm for all USDM Integra and
Civic axles.
Anyway, here's what works:
91-93 accord, 97-2001 prelude axles--leave the inner CV joint in the intermediate shaft and graft the prelude or accord axle on to that.
18 inch heavy duty zip ties work (there's a tool at Home Depot to tighten it real good) instead of the metal band.
I tightened mine on the car car and it was easier than trying to tighten the metal ones.
The right side accord or prelude axles fit as is.
I also had to get new axle nuts from Honda.
I heard that the next best upgrade while keeping it Honda engineered would be NSX rotors and calipers if you can find those cheap .
While the suspension was lying on the ground, I chose to get Mugen hard rubber bushings. They're not cheap but the polyurethane ones I have aren't all that great.
I've heard that there's a reason why Honda didn't totally enclose the rear trailing arm bushing. The thing needs to move laterally in a controlled manner. My poly bushings back there were just sliding around. Keep it Honda engineered.
pics (The rotors are rusted but it's on there):
