JDM ITR into crx wiring
I'm getting ready to do the swap, but need to figure out some things with the wiring. I know most people say to use the chipped P28, but I don't know if I'm interested in losing the knock sensor. Any way to properly wire the motor up and retain the use of the sensor?

There's a few ways to wire it up and have a functioning knock sensor but that all comes down to which ECU you use and how much wiring you want to deal with. You could use OBD0 electronics with a PR3/PW0 ECU, a OBD1 P30 ECU or even the OBD2 P73 ITR ECU.

Re: JDM ITR into crx wiring (VTECVillain)
From what I understand, the P30 is pretty rare. If I managed to get my hands on it, I imagine I would have to get it chipped. From the options you suggested it seems like the one I would want most just because I hear it'll run better with obd1.
I guess what I ultimately want is as safe a setup as possible that runs as close to stock as possible. Would you suggest I go with the p30?

Another thing, why do people act like the loss of a knock sensor when using a P28 is a good thing?

It's not like having a lot of things, but are you really better off without it? On a high compression engine with crappy gas?

I would suggest you go with the JDM ITR P73. First of all, it is properly tuned for the motor. So you don't have to worry about expensive repogramming or tuning of an ECU made for another application. Secondly, you probably already have it with your motor. Using it means nothing more to buy. And from what I hear, 1G JDM B16A ECUs and distributers are quite expensive and hard to find alone (not part of a swap package, that is). Alot of people fear using this ECU due to the fact that it is allegedly OBDII:

But although the plugs are OBDII-style, the ECU itself is really just an OBDI ECU. Wiring it up to a CRX is no more difficult than wiring up, say, a P28 ECU. Easier, in fact, since you don't have to worry about either a purge valve or VTEC pressure switch!

Re: JDM ITR into crx wiring (StorminMatt)
That's pretty much what I've decided I'm going to do: the P73 ecu. I'm just a little worried about the wiring. There's not really a conversion harness out there for OBD0 - OBD2, so I'm thinking about rewiring it myself....which from what I understand is what you did.
Ideally it's just as simple as looking at each ECU's pinouts and routing wires to their proper place....but I don't know. I guess I'm worried that I'll do everything, go to start her up, and she won't. And there I'll be trying to figure out for a week what's wrong. It's happened before
Good luck to me, I guess
