JDM b20a + b16 vtec head?

ive got a friend with a 90 prelude with a jdm b20a (jdm prelude) motor swapped in. He is planning on swapping a b16 head on from a 99si. i Know that you can do a b20vtec with the b20b/b20z, but im pretty sure that the b20a is a significantly different motor. so, what do you guys think of it?

The B20a has a horrid B/S ratio and IMO is not a good motor at all.

That is not the same type of B series as we all know and love https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif . The head from a b16 will not fit on it at all.

like i said im pretty sure it wont fit, but can you tell me specifically why (ie bolt patterns etc). he says he knows a guy with a b20 in a civic with this done, and even though i told him im pretty sure it is a b20 from a crv, he tells me that he has a b20a with a b16 vtec head on it.

I've seen it done, I've seen how it's built, and it doesn't look all that reliable. It takes more prep work to make the B16A head fit onto the B20A block, and IMO it's not worth it, even if it is "fully built." There's a few websites out there with people who have done it, and showing a step-by-step process of what they've done.... don't know whatever happenned to those motors. FYI, the 2 setups that I've personally seen have both blown up (one kept on blowing the headgasket, the other dropped a valve & spun a rod bearing, but that could've been from the retard behind the steering wheel).
