JDM B16 into an EK
my boy is buying a JDM B16 SiR II engine from HMO and we're gonna put it in his 97 Civic hatch. the only thing i'm worried about is the fact that his car is obd2. i've been told that jdm engines don't come in obd2 form and are all obd1. w/ that said all he's gonna need to make it work is a odb2 to obd1 jumper right?
as far as the wiring harness goes we all ready figured it out. we want to use the jdm harness so we're just gonna cut the plugs off and extended all the wires. we're gonna soder every wire so we make sure it won't fall apart.

No need to cut anything. You can't use the JDM harness anyway since it's RHD.
Use his 97 engine harness, drop the motor in the car. Get an OBDII to OBDI ecu harness converter and use the ecu that came with the swap.

Re: JDM B16 into an EK (Trey)
will that sounds easier put what i meant by cutting is that we were gonna extend all the plugs so that the ones that go on the driver side (which are on the battery side) can reach the drivers sided and visa versa for the one that go to the battery side. that way we don't have to unplug everything. in fact tommorrow we're gonna do that w/ a buddy of mine's engine. he's got a 95 teg and we're gonna throw a jdm gsr motor in it and use our cutting method since we can't use his harness because he already sold the motor w/ harness to someone.

The EK chassis is unique to the other civic and tegs.
The EK uses a one piece harness.
94-01 teg and 92-95 civic use a two piece harness.
If you have the B16 and the harness is from anything other than a 96-00 civic, you might as well throw that JDM harness away. It's worthless in a EK civic.
