Default J32A2 vs J32A3 ECU question

Can you use the ECU from a J32A2 (00-03) with a J32A3 (04-08) providing you stay with the automatic to automatic or manual stick to manual stick? The reason I'm asking is the newer A3's have a lot less mileage on them but they are
"Drive-by-Wire" and I don't want to get involved with that? Anyone done this?

you will have to look at the sensors involved. You could probably make it work with some mix and matching. Keep in mind the J32A3 has integrated exhaust manifolds in the head also...I don't know if that affects your decision.
