Intermittent VTEC?
I got a 98R motor in my 92 DX Civic (CAD model with the MAP on the firewall) and everything's been running really great but one day (like all shit stories start) I decided to pull the intake manifold, have it cleaned and then put in a Hondata heatshield on it.
I don't know if it was all the coolant flying outta the head and dousing whatever wiring was back behind the block but this is the ONLY mod I have on the car currently. It runs the USDM 98R ECU and I bought a OBDI-OBDII adapter harness so I could plug n play the OEM 98R brain. I can hit VTEC about 3 times and on the fourth try I hit about 5500rpm indicated and it doesn't allow me to go VTEC. I have checked and changed the oil. The codes I have currently are: -22 - VTEC malfunction -54 - CKF sensor -65 - Secondary O2 I'm pretty sure I had code 54 and 65 before and the car would hit VTEC all day long.... Has anybody else experienced such symptoms? Would it be the VTEC pressure switch or the VTEC Solenoid? I don't have much time to work on cars anymore....just looking for some insight before I take time off from the books. Significant thanks to all who read..... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
