Default which intake mani gasket should I use?

I have a Z6 head with a y8 intake manifold and I need to know which intake gasket to use. Right now, I have a OEM y8 gasket on there torqued to 17ft/lbs. as per spec. The car has developed an idle issue and a smoke machine and carb cleaner have confirmed this. I didn't use any RTV or "monkey snot" as my mechanic calls the stuff (some black 3M gooey sealant). I know the gaskets look different but I'm not sure if the gasket should match the head or vice versa. Any ideas or suggestions? Should I use any gasket sealant?

I always use some of the permatex brown aviation sealer (shellac) on the manifold side of the gasket.
Buy a Z6 and Y8 gasket and compare...

I sparyed carb cleaner between manifold and cylinder head and the car bogs down. That would signal a vacuum leak, no?

I looked at the TMs for both manifold gaskets, they look quite different...

Yep, you have a leak. I had the same issue with my mini me swap, all you have to do is seal it up. I removed my mani and put silicone and it took care of the vacuum leak. Good luck

d16 z6 gasket.

You do not need to put any snot, seal, silicone, monkey glue, super glue on intake manifold gaskets buddy.

And why are you using the y8 manifold?

Y8 has the best flow for OEM manifold D-series. If I were the OP, I use thermal gasket like Hondata/Blox. It's little more expensive but it's completely reusable.

It's what I have available. z6 head and y8 block. It's my daily driver for now.

I'm buying a z6 gasket this time around. I heard you aren't supposed to use the sealant unless the manifold is warped bad.

I went with a z6 felpro gasket from Autozone. It doesn't create a complete seal so I used some RTV to finish the job off. It's purring like a p*ssy now.
