Default Initial impressions from my EG K24 swap...

Well the K24 swap is finally in there and I got the suspension and tires on, put about 100 mile son it last weekend...

Locash tuned the Hondata to get a bit better idle out of it...

Here's the setup..
03 Accord K24
generic intake with K&N filter
RSX base trans, Quaife diff
195/50-15 tires Dunlop FM901
Accord stock clutch
Hasport header
5Zigen exhaust (not sure which one) with convertor
Hondata K Pro

AC system installed, needs charging but the lines are all made and fit fine. Need to wire new fan to relay...

OK first impression is that this isn't anything like the Hondas I've been driving for the past 6 years. Taking off from a stop is effortless, 1500 RPM and it will take off smoothly from a dead stop. I shift at 3k just to keep the speed reasonable as other cars are left behind. If I wind it out to 7100 things get hairy pretty fast. 1st gear is good for about 35, 2nd I'm hitting 55, 3rd close to 90. Estimated top speed is 149 with the current gearing and tires.

I can tool around all day in 3rd gear and not worry about lugging the engine if I need to speed up. I actually can take off from 3rd gear if I slip the clutch a bit!

Talk about a flexible engine powerband...can't wait to put it on the track

Please elaborate on what was required to install AC. Pics would be great too. I have an interest in this swap but want to retain AC.

What did you do for power steering? Keep it or loose it? If you kept it, what did you use for it? Parts from other cars or kits? I too am EXTREMELY interested in the K series swap (more specifically the K20A2). Congradulations on the swap man. I havent seen any bad reviews from people who have done any K series.

P.S. Any pics?

I'll take some pics and post on my site, since I'm not sure how to upload to the H-T board...

The AC lines were a matter of figuring out which lines to start with...I used the 03 Accord compressor lines and had the fittings cut off to use a thicker wall hose. The stock 03 hoses are thin and kinked too easily. Spacing the fan forward was the next task so I used an aftermarket thinner fan and trimmed the stock fan bracket (which supports the AC condensor) to fit. It's not too pretty but it works and clears the hoses. I may trim it a bit better before I charge up the system.

I did magage to use the stock suction line from the firewall (the thin one) and snaked it around the new engine mount to a flex piece, then into the new receiver. The receiver is now in the hole on the passenger side frame rail.

I also decided to use the pressure switch in the receiver instead of the factory one on the condensor, mainly to make it cleaner.

I still need to make lower mounts for the condensor, but Hasport will be making a new lower support bar for the production kits and I'll probably wait for that...

No power steering on the VX, it doesn't need it anyway. The new fast ratio rack will be a nice addition...should have it tomorrow ...also need to make the console to cover up the steel tower for the dash mounted shifter...I really like the way the shifter falls into your hand...

Next Up...sound deadening material in hatch and doors...who cares about the 20 lbs it will add, I can tow a truck now

That has to be an awesome combination. I drove my brother's 03 Accord and was surprised by the amount of torque it had. Plus it seemed to shift much better than older Accords. So, in a Civic, this would be a sweet motor, even if it only tops out at 160 HP.

How would you say a K24 swap compares with an H22 swap?

With the generic intake, 5zigen exhaust (don't know which one, it's pretty quiet), hi flow cat, and the protoype Hasport header, it puts down 158 HP and 155 torque to the wheels.

Once I get the intake in a better configuration and change the muffler to something even quieter I'll run it again...

Anxiously awaiting pics.

Also, are you talking about the new Quaife steering rack?

I have the EG Del Sol 2 core aftermarket radiator in there, and temp so far has stayed below 1/2, although I don't have the air hooked up yet. I don't think that will place any more load on the cooling system, but it might. Once I start running it hard all the time I'll know better if I'll need to put on an oil cooler...

Any plans to take it to the track?

I'm a little curious what this thing will pull in the 1/4 mile.
