Is putting in a jdm b18c just as easy/as much work as puttin in the usdm one in a 96-98 hatch?

if not, then what are the technicalities of puttin in the jdm?

basically, i want to kno if its the same exact swap so i dont need to worry that its jdm, and putting it in will not **** with my car and give me problems.

as long as i get the jdm ecu.
would i need a jdm wiring harness also?

Same exact swap.Everything hooks up th same.You can use either a usdm or jdm ecu and use the wireing harness you have now.

Yeah dude trust me I know, you have to use your wiring harness that you have now, you cant use gsr at all, not he usdm or especially not the jdm cuz its on the wrong side.. But trust me you cant use the gsr wiring harness. ITs just not possible. You can modify your own or take it to HASPORT and have them do it.

actually the JDM SiR ECU sucks *****, a US GSR ECU is better to use on a JDM SiR engine.

i guess im goin with the jdm b18c1 and jdm or usdm ecu with my stock usdm dx wiring harness?
and it should be all gravy?

well yes, you can use your DX harness but of course you're gonna have to add some wires for the dual butterflies, and vtec solenoid... you know that right ?

yeah, i kno about that part, [just dont kno how much and how annoying it will be to get the parts and get it done though]
i just wanted to kno about the jdm part of things. as long as having the jdm swap is the same amount of work and same operation/procedure as the usdm

The program on it is different. It's configured for the higher compression JDM motors instead of the US models.

besides the obvious physical size differences..
it's configured with some funky fuel/timing maps in comparison to a US P72/GSR stock program.... In fact none of the ECU race programs I have work at all on a JDM P72/SiR ECU, yet they work on JDM P30 ECU's.....

You can totally feel a difference between a US and JDM P72 ECU by simply swapping them out and driving around (boning out of course).

Dude if you think your going to have problems w/the wireing then i suggest you dont try it. This is the most diffcult part of the swap at least for me it is. You can do what i did and take it to Hasport and theyll do up all of the wiring for you!!!

katman, you just confused the out of me.
are you suggesting to use the us ecu with the jdm b18 or use the jdm ecu witht he jdm b18?
and which model numbers?

sorry I typo'd above..
I meant that NONE of my ECU programs work on a JDM P72 ECU (SiR-G ECU). Yet most of my programs work on a JDM P30 (B16A) ECU.

I'm suggesting to use a US GSR ECU (P72) on your JDM SiR engine. The JDM SiR-P72 ECU sucks lemons.
