-stock cams a must ? Keep everything as STOCK as possible. Less for them to complain about.
-was gonna use dc carb legals but people say they bitched about it, Yes, DC headers are C.A.R.B. legal, but like above, put them on after.
-stock intake or carb legal one ? Same as above.
-what piping ? Stock piping with GSR cat. Depending on the car it may require 2 O2 sensors.
-plastic cover for the cams ? Shouldn't be an issue unless the cams are AM, if then, see first ?.
-DOES A WIRE TUCK AFFECT ? I would say, more than likely. They are gonna ding you on every none stock issue you have, and make sure all emissions controls are there and in working order.
Like you said, there are a lot of If's and those If's vary from one BAR location to the other and even so, one ref to the other. I have seen 2 done, one the guy gave a once over and just eye balled everything was there. The other time, the guy was poking and prodding everything and even busted out the inspection mirror to make sure the cat was legit and all the piping from manifold to muffler was all in order.
Its just a matter of hoping for the best.

Basicly to bar a car in California they told me that u need to make ur car the same as the motor not the motor fit the car. for example u need to make ur car seem as much as a stock GSR as possible no getto rigged crap. i just bar'd my B16 to my bros Hatch i needed to make the car seem like a stock SI form the motor wise.
I mite be wrong so i dont know but thats what ive been told.

Re: im tryin to bar my usdm gsr swap in California
to bar a car in cali, the new engine must be newer then the car model and must have all the stock parts of the engine put inside the car. for example the ecu, water pump etc. EVERYTHING must be for that car. Since it is a GSR swap it needs all of the parts from the integra to go with it. People that inspect can be dicks and go over every little thing and inspect it making sure it is perfect.
it has to pass a emissions screening, and a visual screening as well. Whatevers wrong with the car they'll tell you what you need to get fixed and you have to come back at a later time to try and get it bar'd again

Make it look bone stock and play dumb. Say you bought the car like that and you thought it was factory. Also if you have rims put the oems back on. If the car appears to be stock on the outside less likely they will think its modded and investigate to the fullest. I dont live in ca but a friend does. He had a carbon fiber hood so they went threw it up and down 3 or 4 times looking for anything they could get him on. And they found something stupid and said it had to be fixed. He put the oem hood back on went back and they barely looked and pasted him and he never had the "problem" fixed.

yes and no lol If the car doesnt come turbo then there going to look for anything they can get you on. But yes you can pass with a turbo. It would obviously need to have a recirculated wastegate and probably a recirculated bov. The recirculated bov is more for the people looking for **** to get you on. Dont give them reasons to **** with you.

Re: im tryin to bar my usdm gsr swap in California
for everyone else getting bard is not that hard fallow a couple simple rules
1. motor has to be same year or newer then the car
2.wire the motor up to watever your car is (ex.my 97ob2 gsr is wired ob1 to a 95gsr ecu in my 95 civic)
3.keep everything as close to stock as possible
4.make sure you have a legit motor that will pass smog
FOLLOW THESE STEPS AND YOU WILL HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING BAR'D
