IAC valve trouble

IAC valve trouble
cant stop thrown code 14, put in a new iac valve.
it is a 97dx with a b18c. we modified the dx harness so we could use it on the b18c. the dx harness dident have the IAC valve pin where the grs PCM connector needed it on number 12 pin on plug A. and we still get a code 14.
if i take a wire from number 12 pin where it is needed, do i just take that wire to the positive side of the IAC plug and the negative to the block. should this make the IAC valve work properly and not throw the code? if not please help me out with this IAC valve problem if you have any diffrent input. thanks
