I need help trying to figure out which motor I really have!
Found a good deal on a 93 Prelude SI so I took it. The owner couldn't tell me much about the motor/xmsn swap other than it came from Japan, and he paid to have it installed with manual swap. I run into issues with replacing spark plug wires, for example, and most recently head bolts. There is a "94" stamp on the side of the head (which should be the build year), but I don't know how to read the block to check if it is a hybrid. It is a black top DOHC V-TEC. Motor and trans (M2A4) came from the same supply in japan (I'm told). I am getting oil past the valve seals, and bought what I need to make the repair plus get ahead of any other problems. Problem is the head bolt set that I ordered does not match what I removed. Part ordered GS33407. 10 bolts: 1 @8.25" and 9 @6.75" but the bolts I removed were all 7.75" Any help would be awesome on this. I just want to stop buying parts and getting in to the project just to find that the parts I have are wrong.

When I went to the local Honda dealer the looked at me like I punched them in the throat! Sooooo helpful.

It sounds like you have purchased a set of head bolts for an H23 engine. These will not work on a H22 VTEC engine. Since you mentioned a cylinder head stamping of model year 1994, you should probably consider ordering parts for a 1994 Prelude Si VTEC. Dealership parts departments may want to run your VIN to order parts for you... but that won't work on a swapped car.
