hello all........ i have some swap questions. i have done a lot of research on these subjects and think i have the problem sorted out, but i would like a confirmation or critique if possible. here's what i have to work with..........

i have two cars, one is a 97 civic ex coupe with stock motor and the other is a 99 civic ex coupe with a b16a2. i plan to pull the si motor/tranny etc from the 99 ex and drop it into the 97 ex...... the first problem is, what wiring harness do i use? if i put in the si one, it should just fire up and go..... the twist is this: the 99 ex is going to receive a 99+ b18c1. the problem: what wiring harness do i use with the b18c1? i believe the gsr harness won't work, so i need to get a civic one.......

my current solution: i will put the b18c1 motor/tranny into the 99 ex with the si wiring harness (with the wire added for secondary butterflies, of course)..... and install the b16a2 motor/tranny into the 97 ex with the d-series vtec wiring harness........ is that feasible? or should i just get a second si wiring harness? any help is much appreciated. thanks in advance.

CLIFF NOTES: 99 ex w/ b16a2 and 97 ex w/ d-series....... b16a2 into 97 ex, b18c1 into 99 ex....... which wiring harnesses to use with each swap?

well Andy you just answered your question.
Use the 99-00 si harness for the gsr swap
Use the 97 sohc harness for the si swap.

You will not be able to switch the harnesses between chassis's due to the OBD2 / OBD2B conflict. Reuse the 97 EX harness on the B16A2 in the 97 EX, then reuse the 99 EX harness on the B18C1 in the 99 EX.
