I Love Vtec!!!!
Just (me and 2 friends) finished putting everything together this morning!!! Man it was a long weekend with very little sleep and food, but we finally got it done!!!
I put a nice simple LS/Vtec setup in my car for those of you who do not know.
Setup:
Stock b18b block
b16 head (port & polished, 3 angle valve job, ITR valve train, b16 cams)
GSR tranny
ClutchMaster stage 3 clutch
A buch of earls fittings and braided SS hose for Vtec oil line.
GSR oil pump
DC JDM ITR header
Custom 2.5" test pipe
p28 w/mugen chip
B & M FPR w/guage
Energy suspension engine mount inserts
GSR timming belt cover
GSR power steering mount
A bunch of new OEM gaskets
New fluids
New timing belt
And probably some other stuff I am forgeting.
We decided it would be easyier to just take the motor out of the car since we had so much to do. We got the motor out friday night, and had it back in saturday night, and running sunday night.
Every thing went pretty smooth exept the test pipe I bought from http://www.testpipes.com was to long so we could not bolt the exhaust up, and we could not get Vtec to cross over.
We messed with it monday untill about 3:00 am when we got pulled over cause people were complaing about the noise. It WAS HELLA LOUD!!!! If you have ever seen the video of the skunk2 integra, that is what is sounded like.
This morning I shortened the test pipe (still have a nice sized exhaust leak, going to fix later) and found out why Vtec was not working, I had the Vtec solnoid wire, and Vtec pressure switch wired backwords, so it was throughing a code 21 CEL.
Once I switched the wires, Vtec crossed over, and I felt Vtec for the first time in my car!!!!! It really puts you in your seat!!!! I love how it all the sudden takes off at 5700 RPM. Only complaint I have is that I fall about 150 RPM out of Vtec when I shift, even with the GSR tranny!?!?!? Should I get a different chip with a little lower Vtec point, like arround 5400 or 5500 RPM?
Anyways, Im pretty tired so Im going to get to bed.
I want to thank InfamousRRH & InfamousCW-hatch for giving up their weekend to help me.
Also thanks to B16_EF for the CM stage 3 clutch, and b16 head, hes an great guy, if you need some parts, Im sure he can get them for you for a great deal!

man oh man.. good to hear your stuff got going good!! hehe.. now all you gotta do is break it in and stop flooring it! your gonna make the clutch slip.. and it's not going to run full potential cuz it hasn't been broken in yet.. go drive it around town.. for a long long long time.. 800 miles.. then go floor it all you want hehe.. anyways..:D yeah.. b16_ef right here.. he got the clutch from me brand spankin new for 310 shipped.. and he didn't order a flywheel from me... but flywheels are 300 shipped.. clutchmaters..... good to hear that the car is running well.. get it tuned and pull that 8.9-lower that i'm looking for.. good luck! maybe i meet up with you sometime and we can run

Re: I Love Vtec!!!! (JDM Dasilva)
your rpm's shouldn't fall past vtec.. cuz the teg that i was driving.. that thing rpm's fall above vtec... maybe it's the driver... stop flooring the car hehe.. i'm gonna keep telling you that cuz you still gotta break **** in.. and whats the rev limiter on the chipped p28??

Re: I Love Vtec!!!! (b16_ef)
Iv only drove it hard twice where I took the RPMs high, then shifted(not hard though). My Vtec crossover is at 5700, and when I shift it the RPMs fall to about 5500 or so, so I fall out of vtec.
Im running the mugen chip in a p28, I don't really like the program I don't think, so Im going to switch to the Vision chip ( http://www.hyperducktuning.com says its best for ls/vtec ) which has a 5200 RPM Vtec crossover, and 8200 RPM rev limit.

Re: I Love Vtec!!!! (InfamousRS)
thas odd cuz stock gsr vtec engage at 5700 also.. it never falls pass that when we shift.. hmm... but i've always like vtec to kick at 5200-5400... thas where i always set vtec on v-afc's... so i guess chipping it to those specs would be nice.. get a higher rev though.. at least 8500.. the head is made to go safely to 8800... maybe 9k. but i wouldn't recommend it's only itr valvetrain

Re: I Love Vtec!!!! (b16_ef)
sorry but i have to jump in with this.
b16_ef: Why do you keep telling him to take it easy. If I am correct he didn't add new pistons and rings right? The only reason for the break-in is to seat the rings. If he didnt change them then he is fine. If not then I retract my previous statement.
Also, when I had my lsvtec with gsr tranny and mugen ecu it never fell out of vtec at 8k shifts...keep trying bro! It still never falls out with the b16 and gsr tranny and mugen ecu.

oh yes...forgot about that clutch issue...haha my bad homey. yeah i took it easy on my car for two weeks and only got on it like once a day...just took it to vtec. I still hada flatspot on the clutch. Those clutches dont last long at all if you are hard on them. And i was just thinking it was a stock head too. my bad again
