i just sold my mustang to buy a crx, i wanna do a b 16 swap, what do u think
OK OK, i know but yes i did have a 5.0, i need to know what i should pay for a b 16 swap, and what i should do to prep it for turbo, i am looking to boost about 20 lbs. any advise would be helpful, i want to out run my mustang, I would like to run at least a 12.7

about 2 grand for the whole swap after having anything. probably looking at around 500 for labor to install it. hmm, turbo, 20psi, resleeve the block. run about 9:1 pistons, while its resleeved, i go with an 84.5mm bore anyway, forged pistons, eagle rods.

Check the magazine HCI where with a $200 junkyard turbo plus intercooler they got ~300 whp@ 12 psi. If it is tuned right you will not have to run 20 psi to get even a full interior car to run better than 12.7.
I had a turbo d16a6 and ran 12.60 @ 112 mph with FULL INTERIOR 4 door EX that was not even tuned correctly. For a reasonably priced setup & basic details, you might check out KG Precision Engineering @ 714-841-8990 or http://www.kgracing.net They have always been very fair with legit parts and honest opinion even when it is NOT to their profit. Also I highly recommend Tom Fujita @ http://www.portflow.com for head and valvetrain assist...

10k if you gonna gold plate it! For 4 or 5k you should be able to go top drawer on everything: pistons, cams, rods, headwork, ECU upgrade, intake and manis, etc.

10k if you gonna gold plate it! For 4 or 5k you should be able to go top drawer on everything: pistons, cams, rods, headwork, ECU upgrade, intake and manis, etc.

You do not need Mugen, Spoon, Toda, Jun, etc. to make it run:
Motor (JDM b16a 1st gen) with tranny and ECU - $1100
Axles - 150
ECU upgrade - 150
ITR pistons - 413
valvespring /train upgrade & Ti retainers - 325
Turbo & intercooler - 750
Custom Piping I/E/Downpipe - 250
Engine management (dep on type) - 700
Rods & Pistons - 700
Misc. Labor, etc.... - 800/1000
Note cams prob NOT necessary, so can deduct the 413
Anyway, you can get a package for about 5k, and that is a rough breakdown. I can refer you to KG if you are in Cali, and you can check on that....

Hmm I built my previous motor for alot less than 10k...
B16a Swap $1100
Mounts & linkage $550
LS pistons w/ rings $150
ITR Manifold, JG TB, cams and springs $650 <new cams, others used>
Adjustable FPR $60
Turbo kit $2500 <Fmax mani, used 4/3, deltagate, custom downpipe, GReddy BOV, Vortec FMU, fuel pump, custom piping, water/air intercooler setup, it REALLY needed Injectors>
This is an example and not EXACTLY what I did, I had a few other tuning parts I used N/A but didn't change for F/I, so I left them out. I outran a C5 vette with no tuning, and an hour later I burned down 2 pistons from running lean. BUT it did run, and it ran it's *** off, which is the point of this post.
