I finally got me a Type Arrrr...
Well not the whole thing anyways...
Oh boy oh boy oh boy:
Release the beast!!!
Stock 94 Civic CX. So sad & slow with a 8 valve D15...
Mr. Santos L Halper, my faithful assistant:
Farewell you knockity POS:
Got some work to do:
Damn, I forgot to smile for the camera:
Well, that was easy:
Fresh VTEC baby:
Looks right at home:
A couple friends & I did this last weekend. It was my first motor swap, and I must say it felt like quite a bit of work in the 110* heat. The only problem I've run into so far, is a bad IAC valve. With the Idle screw out quite far, I can get the motor to idle around 600 w/o stalling. I'll have to give Steve at HMO a quick call tomorrow & see if he can get me a replacement.
Kenji's chipped P06 showed up today, and I was finally able to take her out for the maiden voyage. It was about 9:30pm, and I was cruising around with only the cat connected to the header (quite loud ). Needless to say I had to take it pretty easy, but I'm quite amazed at how well the car drives (especially w/o a working IAC). The shifter throws so much quicker than the Civic version, and the gears are ridiculously short. I can't wait to get the exhaust connected so I can see what she'll really do...

Yeah he is. They are very good house pets, but VERY needy. He will follow me around the house no matter how many rooms I go in, and no matter how long I walk around for. They always want attention, and have been know to get along poorly with childeren...

A couple notes that I didn't find searching:
- Cover your drivers side shock tower with some blankets. The B-series is quite a bit bigger & the crank pulley will scratch the shock tower up while your pulling the transmission around the passenger-side frame-rail mount
- Take all the mounts off the motor before you start installing (you can leave the AC bracket & timing mount on)
- The rear mount bracket should be the first thing you install to attach the motor to the car. It is big & will NOT fit if any of the other mounts are connected. You need to pull the motor forward to get it in place. I had to un-bolt & remove all the other mounts to get this one in...
- The rubber in the front lower civic mounts will probably be very brittle. Be carefull when removing them because they can tear apart very easily. If your integra motor comes new ones, just use those. But if it doesn't (mine only came with passengers side one), make sure not to ruin your stock ones. I tore the rubber part right out of the drivers side lower mount trying to remove it.

Only time will tell:
- If it gets stolen.... No
- If it blows up... No
- If it lasts long enough to become one of the classic setups of American history... Yes
I am quite happy with the earlier 96-97 B18C because my car is quite low, and I don't want a header that hangs lower than the oil-pan. Besides, everyone recomends an SMSP, Hytech, or RMF header anywyas. Also, the agressive intake cam of the 98+ would have been cool, but there are much better cams out there that I would rather use & would make better power with a nice header. The 4.7 final drive would have been cool too, but it's not too freeway friendly (most of my driving)...

Agreed. Good job on the swap, and it looks like you did a good job with everything. Hopefully you get that working IAC valve! I'm cranking my GSR today but it's gonna be far from ready to run right haha.
Honestly any B18C5/R is good considering the price difference and the fact that no matter what, on the general level it's still built like a Type R. You still have 195+ Horsepower, short geared LSD tranny and the OEM red valve cover =D

Re: I finally got me a Type Arrrr... (Essenar83)
My IAC valve started working a few days ago. I guess it's just gunked up. Steve @ H-motors said to clean the insdie w/ some simple green & spray it down w/ WD-40 to get it working again. If that doesn't fix it, he was going to replace it. The swap runs great otherwise...

And you kept a/c. Awesome
I hate when people ditch an a/c system thinking it's going to be so awesome afterward....it's such a waste: you don't save that much waste, and the parasitic draw from the compressor is miniscule.

I have to say the 1.8L has plenty of torque to spare for A/C (plus A/C is manditory in Las Vegas). You can always just switch it off when you want to pound through gears too. You should have driven the car with the stock D15Y8. That motor has a lighter flywheel than other D series, and when you switched the A/C on, the car was almost impossible to drive (or stomach)...
